The Legend of Alef Square, Dezful
“Within the next 48 hours, Iraq will launch missile strikes on designated targets: A – Dezful…”
Once upon a time, the chilling voice of Iraqi radio broadcasts became a grim yet routine reality for the people of Dezful. In the list of targeted cities announced through alphabetical codes, other locations shifted — but “Target A” was forever reserved for Dezful.
Square A (Meydan-e Alef) of Dezful stands as a testament to the days when this steadfast city took the brunt of relentless aggression: 🔹 176 massive missiles (6, 9, and 12 meters long)
🔹 2,500 artillery shells
🔹 300 rockets
🔹 Over 19,000 residential and administrative buildings destroyed
Yet, the aggressors failed to understand what “A” truly meant. For Dezful, “A” stood for standing first, standing strong, and never backing down.
Dubbed by enemy forces as “Balad al-Sawarikh” (The City of Missiles), Dezful endured 2,700 days of resistance. It sacrificed 2,600 martyrs for the homeland, yet its spirit remained unbowed.
Today, while Dezful often remains quietly overlooked, Square A stands proud—a timeless symbol honoring Iran’s Capital of Resistance.
